Description:Southeastern peripheral region of Maya, Southern Guatemala/Honduras. The purity of the design, bold and graphic swirl and archaic looking Olmecoid "hand paw wings" forms along with the form of the bowl possibly lends itself to area of Joya de Ceren in Salvador. The two large glyphic forms are pseudo glyphs, typical or glyphic inscriptions on Copador polychromes. A variant of Maya YAX glyph.Diameter:Height :

Description:Fine stylized sculpture of an attractive human female as the form of a bowl or vase. The brown burnished slip decorated by two large ear spools each with multiple incised roundels with remains of white pigment within the incisions, which serve as handles for the vase. The attenuated arms extent downward from the shoulder toward the center of the widest diameter of the rotund vessel, ending in rudimentary hands. The eyes are elongated horizontal slits on either side of a small nose above tiny pursed lips with remains of a reddish pigment. The neck is decorated with an incised "necklace". There are remains of three bands of darker pigment around the backside of the vase as well as multiple ancient surface encrustations.
